Winter Teacher Training

an Exams Catalunya Event

Following the success of our Autumn Teacher Training Event in November last year, we invite you all to join us for another inspiring morning of professional development. Our Winter Teacher Training Event will take place on Saturday 1 March and we are excited to welcome back two of our most popular presenters, Natasha Young and Anne Robinson.

During the coffee break, staff from Exams Catalunya and Cambridge English Press & Assessment will be available to speak to you individually and respond to any questions you may have. There will be a chance to browse through the latest materials on offer from Cambridge and to pick up some useful promotional materials for you and your school.

We look forward to seeing you in March and hope that you will be able to make the most of this valuable and motivating opportunity.

The Final Countdown: Preparing Students for the Big Day

10:00 – 11:15

The final few months before the exam can be a stressful time for our learners. In this practical session, we’ll look at ways to maximise learning during class time in the countdown to the exam. We’ll look at a variety of classroom routines you can introduce to help with vocabulary acquisition and Use of English, and try out some communicative and collaborative tasks to help with reading and writing. We’ll also look at ways to help our learners deal with exam day nerves. This workshop will focus on B2 exam classes but will be jam-packed with ideas that teachers of all levels can try out in their classrooms.

Let’s be ambitious!

12:15 – 13:30

Sticking to known language they feel confident with may seem like a sensible approach to speaking and writing, especially in exam situations. However, the higher assessment bands require our students to demonstrate a range of more sophisticated lexis and grammar. As teachers, we also need to hear and see them using new language so that we can judge their progress and stay motivated ourselves! In this session, we’ll consider several areas, including complexity, sophistication, flexibility and control, applicable from level B1 upwards.
