Spring Teacher Training

an Exams Catalunya Event

Step into spring with fresh ideas and join us for a morning of inspiration and professional development! The Exams Catalunya Spring Teacher Training Event takes place on Saturday, 25 April—an opportunity to refresh your teaching toolkit and connect with fellow teachers.

This term, we’re introducing a refreshed format: choose between two engaging workshops in the first session, then come together for a second session after the coffee break.

As always, our colleagues from Cambridge University Press & Assessment will be on hand, and the Exams Catalunya team will be happy to answer any questions about your students’ exams.

Our Teacher Training events are fast becoming a must-attend fixture in teachers’ calendars, so sign up now and don’t miss out!

We look forward to seeing you in April!

Session 1 Option A:

Spring Teacher Training

Speak up! Strategies to get Young Learners talking.

10:15 – 11:30

Laura Darby

Why won’t they talk!? We’ll look at some tips for getting Young Learner students speaking in class and discover some flexible resources which can be adapted to many of the YLE Exam topics. Our aim is to help students feel more comfortable speaking English and more confident going into the classroom (& their exams).

The session will be divided into two sections: First, we will look at why students are reluctant to volunteer for speaking activities and how to get them speaking. Then we will dive into a practical workshop to learn how to prepare and adapt lesson plans to different topics and YLE levels.

Does it ever feel like exam preparation classes are no fun? Feeling the pressure to prepare your students thoroughly for exam day, do you leave all your best games at the classroom door and focus on timed practice? This interactive session will look at ways of sneaking more enjoyment into exam prep. We’ll try out some new grammar and vocabulary games, as well as ways to tweak old favourites to have more of an exam focus. Expect to leave with plenty of ideas to try out in your own classrooms on Monday!
