Winter Teacher Training

an Exams Catalunya Event

Shake off those winter blues with an inspiring morning of professional development!
Join us for the Exams Catalunya Winter Teacher Training event on Saturday, 7 February.

We’re thrilled to welcome back Tim Warre, a popular presenter who will explore how AI can be harnessed to support language learning. We’re also delighted to introduce Suzy Ratcliff, who will focus on assessing and developing writing skills, with particular attention to the crucial leap from B2 to C1 level.

As always, our colleagues from Cambridge University Press & Assessment will be on hand, and the Exams Catalunya team will be happy to answer any questions about your students’ exams.

Between sessions, enjoy coffee and breakfast—the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow teachers and share ideas.

Our Teacher Training events are fast becoming a must-attend fixture in teachers’ calendars, so sign up now and don’t miss out!
We look forward to seeing you in February!

Autumn Teacher Training

Autumn Teacher Training

Classroom Management Toolkit

10:15 – 11:30

This interactive session is designed for teachers seeking practical, effective ways to prepare B2/C1 learners for writing assessment. It will focus on how to give meaningful feedback with confidence, using assessment scales and their criteria in a clear and learner-friendly way. We will take a deep dive into what the terms in the scales really mean for teachers and learners alike, and analyse the shift in expectations from B2 to C1, exploring how best to support students through this transition. Participants will leave with a range of practical ideas and approaches to help learners develop their writing skills and feel more confident in guiding them on this journey.

Let’s be ambitious!

12:15 – 13:30

Sticking to known language they feel confident with may seem like a sensible approach to speaking and writing, especially in exam situations. However, the higher assessment bands require our students to demonstrate a range of more sophisticated lexis and grammar. As teachers, we also need to hear and see them using new language so that we can judge their progress and stay motivated ourselves! In this session, we’ll consider several areas, including complexity, sophistication, flexibility and control, applicable from level B1 upwards.
