Your certificate

If you pass a Cambridge English examination or achieve a recognized Council of Europe level, you will receive a certificate issued by Cambridge English.

The availability of certificates depends on the type of exam you took:

  • For digital-based exams, certificates are typically available one month after the exam date.
  • For paper-based exams, certificates are usually available two months after the exam date.

These dates are published on the “Results Calendar”.

Private candidates

We will send you an email as soon as your certificate is available asking you to request one of the following options:

  1. Collect your certificate from our offices. This service is free of charge
  2. Receive your certificate via our secure delivery service. There is a charge for this service which varies depending on the destination and must be pre-paid.

Preparation Centres

Certificates for Preparation Centres will be dispatched progressively as soon as they are received. All candidates registered by your centre will receive their certificates in this way.

To ensure that your certificate arrives safely, please note that we do not send certificates to Preparation Centres during the month of August.

Your grade and CEFR level

Cambridge English – Pass at Grade A
Exceptional candidates sometimes show ability beyond the level of the exam they have taken. Candidates achieving grade A or Pass with Distinction will receive a certificate stating that they demonstrated ability at the next CEFR level.

Cambridge English – Pass at Grade B or C
Candidates who achieved grade B, C or Pass with Merit will be awarded a Cambridge English certificate corresponding to the CEFR level of the exam that they took.

Cambridge English – Certification of lower levels
Candidates whose performance is below the CEFR level of the exam that they took but falls within the previous CEFR level will receive a Cambridge English certificate stating the CEFR level that they have achieved.

How long is my Cambridge English certificate valid for?

Your Cambridge English certificate does not expire. Recognising organisations such as universities, colleges and employers can choose how long to accept results for, so make sure you always check their requirements.

Lost certificates

If any certificates are lost between one of our exam centres candidates or Preparation Centres, we can request duplicate certificate/s from Cambridge Assessment English once a period of 6 months has passed since your exam date. Candidates who have lost their certificate may only apply for a certifying statement through the Cambridge English website.
