Young Learners results

A Young Learners certificate is a great way to celebrate children’s achievement, build their confidence and reward their own individual ability.

There is no pass or fail and all children receive a certificate which shows how many shields they have received (out of a maximum of five) for each part of the test.

There is no pass or fail and all children receive a certificate which shows how many shields they have received (out of a maximum of five) for each part of the test.

A result of one shield means a child can improve a lot in that skill. Five shields mean a child did very well in that skill and answered most questions correctly.

The back of the certificate shows how results align to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). If a child has earned four or five shields in each skill, they are ready to start preparing for the next Cambridge English qualification.

The Cambridge English Scale

Cambridge English uses a way of reporting results for the exams that provides detailed information about candidates’ performance in the exam – the Cambridge English Scale.

The Cambridge English Scale is a range of scores used for reporting the results of Cambridge English exams. It is built on the existing results reporting and years of research, and is designed to complement the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The Cambridge English Scale allows for more straightforward results reporting across the exams and better meets the needs of exam users, including candidates, teachers, universities and immigration departments.
