Teaching introverts in a
Pairwork, groupwork, projectwork, open-class discussion, maximising student output – these are some of the key elements of the communicative method. Most of us believe that these techniques ensure that our learners acquire English efficiently. They work like magic for extroverts, but what about introverts? Do they need something else? To what extent should we push them out of their comfort zones? In this workshop, I would like to debunk some myths about extroverts and give you some ideas as to how to tweak your lessons to better cater for them.
