Do you find it challenging to put a creative spin on your exam prep with kids? Do you feel safer not straying too far from the textbook ? In this session we will look at how to easily adapt low budget, simple paper crafts and projects to fit vocabulary as well as grammatical structures. Teaching children, often as extracurricular teachers, can be challenging. Given the use of screens and their effect on attention span, the growing number of students per teacher as well as the lack of class resources, it’s getting harder to keep young children engaged. As 21st century teachers, we need to be able to offer more than just textbooks and photo copies. We are dealing with a generation of children who are brought up on screen time and YouTube quick fix crafts. Getting children to focus and learn actively gets easier when we allow them to “switch off” and enjoy the learning process and through it the adquisición of English more naturally. We will look at ways to apply simple methods, some of them old classics, in the classroom as well as how to change them to suit different levels and learners.
